Multistakeholder Knowledge Sharing Meeting on Plastic Pollution

In March 2022, at the resumed fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2), a historic resolution was adopted to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment. An Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee was established (INC) and the fourth session will be held in April 2024.
Building on a positive momentum to address plastic pollution across different levels, UNEP through the One Plastics Initiative, ongoing projects and Regional Seas programs is bringing together governments and key stakeholders in the region.
Event Objective
The meeting’s main objective is to bring together the multiple stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region to take stock of the latest progress, share knowledge and best practices, and discuss ways to reduce plastic pollution. The meeting will cover topics, including plastics and circularity, Extended Producer Responsibility, data and monitoring, and multi-stake holder collaboration.
